MK Meir Porush: ‘The Attorney General Is Pushing Israel Toward Civil War’

United Torah Judaism MK Meir Porush—currently on a hunger strike outside the office of Attorney General Gali Baharav-Miara—has issued a grave warning: the government’s aggressive stance on the draft law is pushing Israel toward a dangerous breaking point.
In an interview with Arutz Sheva–Israel National News, Porush did not mince words.
“We are approaching a situation of civil war in the State of Israel—between the chareidim and the secular public. This is all fueled by the Attorney General. She is the one driving this.”
Porush expressed deep concern that Baharav-Miara’s actions are becoming increasingly extreme.
“I believe she is preparing to announce next week that chareidim will be barred from traveling on public roads—because those roads are funded by the Transportation Ministry.”
For Porush, the arrests of yeshiva students are not just legal overreach—they are a direct assault on the chareidi way of life, escalating tensions to levels unseen in decades.
